Discussing Creative Nonfiction

One of the most interesting lists, at least to me, under the umbrella of The Internet Writing Workshop is the Creative Nonfiction Discussion list.

An essay is posted each Sunday evening, and the members spend the week discussing why it works, or does not work, as a piece of creative nonfiction. We've discussed essays by everyone from Orwell to Selzer, essays traditional and experimental, and I never fail to learn something new about the craft of writing. Sometimes I even wake up at night wondering about comments made.

One such dream became a blog post for one of my favorite creative nonfiction publishing venues -- Brevity Magazine.
