So You Think You Can Copy-Edit

There was a discussion on the IWW's WRITING list about copy-editing, its cost, and what a writer might expect. Long-time member and working editor Jeannette Cezanne made this comment:

If you think you want to edit, come hang out here for a month: www.copyediting-l.info

You will quickly see that it's a lot more work (and requires a greater knowledge base) than most writers think. These people seriously know what they're doing. They never fail to amaze me.
