IWW Members' Publishing Successes
It's poetry week! But also fiction and book review week. IWW members are always getting published, one way or another.

My review of The Man who Invented Christmas, by Les Standiford, appears in this month's Internet Review of Books. This is a brand new book just published this month. In the review I focused on the main story, that of Charles Dickens and the events surrounding his publication of A Christmas Carol the day before Christmas in 1843.
However, Standiford includes a lot of information about the publishing world back then. Writers, I believe, will find it very interesting. Interesting also was the tale of how Dickens self-published A Christmas Carol, and then watched in dismay at the many "reoriginations" by other authors that sprang up. Nothing he could do, copyright not being what it is today.

My poem "Let me tell you" is in this week's issue of Here and Now - 7Beats - you'll have to scroll down quite a bit - my poem is between two landscape photos.
Hope that you can find it. There is, of course, a lot of other interesting work.

I'm very happy to have a poem featured at Blue Skies poetry zine. It'll be on the front page for a couple of days before going into archives. Even then, my name will ensure its prominence at the top of the site's alphabetical list of poets, until an Aaron or an Abigail comes along, that is.

Something old, something new.
"And Now for Something Completely Different," critiqued in Fiction years ago, has been accepted by Big Pulp. My record keeping is so bad, I didn't even remember I had sent it to Big Pulp a long while back. Fortunately, they keep better records and sent me a contract. At a penny a word, this one nets me eighteen bucks.
Also, a recent flash written for Practice, "Girls Night Out," will appear in the next issue of Wild Violet.
As always, thanks to all at IWW for the helpful critiques and encouragement.

Two poems, "Last words" and "Fright," up in the November/December 2008 issue of Four and Twenty.
Great way to end the month.
