IWW Members' Publishing Successes For The Week Ending 4/17/22

Phyllis Sanchez

I’m excited that The Georgia Review has published four of my poems in the Spring 2022 issue. It’s a themed issue called “SoPoCo" - Southern Post-Colonial — which focuses on diasporic writing from or about the U.S. South. My portfolio is published under my pen name, Lis Sanchez. All of the poems have been critiqued on the Poetry list.

The editor, Gerald Maa, is interested in including works by authors from diverse backgrounds. His graduate assistant editor gave me smart critiques on each poem in order to get the pieces fine-tuned for publication. I found the editors and staff very professional and patient, but also wonderful to work with.

For years, I have subbed to The Georgia Review with no success. But the Poetry list members have given me endless hours trying to penetrate my hard head with sage advice. What a gift! Thank you, poets, for showing me how to elevate my writing, and for your encouragement. How lucky I am to have landed here!
